Best Free AI Product Description Generators

You don't need a paid subscription to get a decent first-draft product description. These are the genuinely free options worth trying, including their real limitations — not just the one we built.

1. AIBizKit Product Description Generator

Structured fields (features, benefits, materials, keywords) and marketplace-aware output for Amazon, Shopify, Shopee, and Lazada. Free, no signup, 10/day.

2. ChatGPT (Free plan)

Genuinely free and flexible for any product, but you have to write your own prompt and specify the platform's formatting yourself — no built-in marketplace awareness.

3. Shopify Magic

Free, built into every Shopify plan's product editor — generates a description from a title, keywords, and tone. Shopify-only, one product at a time, no bulk generation.

All three are worth trying for different reasons — ChatGPT if you want full control over the prompt, Shopify Magic if you're already in the Shopify admin, AIBizKit if you want marketplace-specific structure without writing the prompt yourself.

How we chose

We only included tools that are genuinely free to use for this task (not just a short trial) and that we could verify from the vendor's own documentation. We left out tools that require a credit card to start, and we say plainly where our own tool is weaker than the alternatives.

What to look for in a free product description generator

  • Does it ask for your facts? A generator that only takes a product name has to guess the rest — and guessing is how invented specs end up in listings. Look for fields for features, materials, and audience.
  • Does it know the platform? Amazon bullets, Shopify brand paragraphs, and Shopee or Lazada mobile-first copy are different shapes. A generic paragraph needs reformatting for each.
  • Does it avoid invented claims? Unsupported claims ("non-toxic", "clinically proven") can get marketplace listings suppressed. Check whether the tool is designed to avoid them — and always check the output yourself.
  • What happens to your data? Check whether your inputs are stored or used for training, especially for unreleased products.
  • What are the limits? Free tiers usually cap usage. For a handful of products a day that rarely matters; for a catalogue of thousands, you'll need a bulk workflow.

Tips for getting better descriptions from any tool

  1. 1.Give exact specifications — sizes, materials, capacity — instead of adjectives.
  2. 2.Name one specific buyer and their main concern.
  3. 3.Generate a separate version for each platform you sell on.
  4. 4.Edit the draft: check every fact, cut filler words, and add what only you know.
